Innoveda Joins Dassault Systemes' V5 Software Community Program

MARLBORO, Mass. & PARIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 10, 2001-- Innoveda, Inc. (Nasdaq:INOV), a leading provider of software and services for the design of advanced electronic products, and Dassault Systemes (Nasdaq: DASTY; Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA), today announced the signing of an agreement under which Innoveda, as a Gold Partner, will provide a strategic component of DS' end-to-end V5 PLM electromechanical solution. Innoveda will deliver V5 interfaced and integrated solutions addressing the logical definition and preliminary physical layout for electrical distribution system design through Innoveda's leading TransLayout product. This key component will complement DS' extensive V5 PLM electromechanical portfolio, which focuses on the 3D definition of wire harnesses, their manufacturability, and their Lifecycle Management. Innoveda and DS' primary targeted markets are the Aerospace, Automotive and E/E (Electrical/Electronics) industries. Together with its partners, DS is building on its V5 technology, the most comprehensive electromechanical solution available today.

Innoveda's initial new product resulting from the partnership, ``TransLayout CAA V5 Based,'' will provide within DS' PLM V5 solutions, a seamless integrated topology-based design tool for the logical definition of complex electrical cabling interconnect systems. It will enable wire harness design teams to plan the electrical distribution system within the context of the physical package and estimate manufacturing costs very early in the product design lifecycle. Systems and electrical engineers will be able to explore design alternatives for wire harness and cabling systems and assess their impact on manufacturing cost and physical space requirements.

DS has been delivering, for the past decade, leading-edge design and manufacturing integrated cabling solutions, consistently with its PLM strategy. DS is in the process of delivering a complete next generation cabling solution, leveraging V5 innovations. Complemented by Innoveda's ``Translayout CAA V5 Based'' product, DS' Electromechanical solutions will cover the end-to-end processes from logical to generative rule-based physical design, to generative rule-based manufacturing, engineering and documentation, to after sales and maintenance. The continued partnership -- DS and Innoveda have worked together since 1997, when the two companies became CAA V4 partners -- will bring to Innoveda's ``Translayout CAA V5 Based'' all of V5's innovations and a direct integration with DS' B2B Collaborative ENOVIA Portal solutions. The complete solution will be delivered as products throughout DS' PLM brands CATIA, ENOVIA and DELMIA to DS' global customers and their extended supply chains.

``The partnership between DS and Innoveda will bring an unparalleled solution to customers, that combines TransLayout's wire synthesis and auto-routing capabilities integrated with the innovative benefits of V5,'' said Enrique F. Ortega, Innoveda Vice President, Electromechanical Division.

Explained Dominique Florack, Dassault Systemes Executive Vice President, Research and Development, ``Innoveda's endorsement of our next generation V5 architecture will result in dynamic new products that add significant additional value in the fully integrated electromechanical design environment to provide real savings and innovation to our customers. In addition, our strategic alliance further strengthens the role of CAA V5 as the next generation architecture for PLM integration.''

The unique V5 architecture is based on innovative foundations, such as the Product/Process/Resource (PPR) Hub, Knowledgeware, multi-CAD, multi-platform (Windows, UNIX) and e-collaboration. V5 supports information and knowledge from product definition, manufacturing process and resource definition as well as the management of the entire product lifecycle. V5's open architecture enables software partners to complement DS applications with key expertise, providing customers with the largest portfolio of CAA V5-based applications.
